Dr. Mikolaj Ogrodnik receives FEBS Excellence Award

The research idea of Dr. Mikolaj Ogrodnik, leader of SHoW´s biomedical research group, has been granted an FEBS Excellence Award. This prize amounts to € 100 000 over three years.

LBG-SHoW is very happy and proud to see that Dr. Mikolaj Ogrodnik´s research efforts have recently been rewarded with an Excellence Award of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). These awards are intended to support research projects of early-career group leaders in the molecular life sciences. The money granted by the FEBS can be used to buy equipment and/or consumables related to the awarded projects. Dr. Mikolaj Ogrodnik´s research focuses on cellular senescence in the context of aging, injury and healing

Regarding the project funded by the FEBS Excellence Award the scientist points out: “It has the potential to address one of the most fundamental questions on aging and cellular senescence: Does the age of individual cells inside living tissues impact their capacity to become senescent and harmful for their surroundings? If successful, the findings from this project will set us for meeting the challenges of age-related diseases and chronic wounds and we might be able to develop new treatments for these conditions.”

FEBS has dedicated an “Excellence Awardee spotlight” on their blog to Mikolaj Ogrodnik. Read the full article here: FEBS Excellence Awardee spotlight: Mikolaj Ogrodnik

About the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS)

The FEBS is one of Europe’s largest organizations in the molecular life sciences. It currently has more than 35 000 members in countries all over Europe and in neighbouring regions. The FEBS strives for giving a voice to the academic research and teaching community. The organization promotes and supports the molecular life sciences, e.g., through its journals, congress and fellowships. The FEBS emphases on scientific exchange and cooperation between scientists working in different countries and promotes early-career scientists.
